From Hank: I’m excited to have been asked to be guest facilitator for this month’s Hollywood Queer Open Mic and Workshop. Haven’t heard about it? Now you have! Check out & join their group page! We’ll offer positive criticism (or none-you choose) for your 5 minute work. Participation is optional; come listen & support if you like. However, hugs are mandatory. All letters of the acronym welcome!
“writer gardener philosophizing yogi roustabout layabout talk about homo about town”
This month, Kalil Cohen brought in two new poems in progress (right down to a “and something rhymes with___ will go here” thrown in!) Jack Tangle read some new work, as well as an updated piece that he’s brought out before. I had the chance to work on a long essay whose second part isn’t quite developed yet because I never have time to read it in a shorter set. It was a great crowd–very supportive and extremely helpful.
The next HQOM is August 27, so please come on by and bring a friend!
With our new music stand and freshly-overhauled PA, the Friday, July 30 HQOM is ready to go! Last month, we had poetry, music, and Asian gummyburgers and man Pocky. Who knows what happens this month!?
